Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) Advanced

Program Description

LEAD Advance is an interactive learning experience for professionals who have a mastery over the fundamentals of leadership and want to take their leadership development to the next level. In this multi-part certificate program, participants will learn how to lead their teams to better performance, engagement and accountability through a series of professional learning courses and activities. Enjoy opportunities to network with other leaders across the university, and customize your LEAD Advance experience by selecting from a wide range of courses to help reach your specific career goals. With a focus on the areas of emotional and cultural intelligence, overcoming change and fostering collaboration, LEAD Advance can help take you and your team to extraordinary new heights.

This certificate program is targeted at Managers, Supervisors and Leadership roles, but ALL NC State Employees are eligible for participation. 

Participants are required to chart their LEAD course and activity progress by completing the LEAD Advance Tracking Sheet. 


Participants must register for the LEAD Advance program with their NC State Employee credentials on the following page in REPORTER: LEAD Advance REPORTER registration.

Submitted requests must first be approved before gaining program access.

Program Cost

This program does not have a set fee. Participants will pay for each class at the time of registration.

Avoid Groupthink with Collaborative Decision Making
Facilitating Performance Accountability
Fostering Team Psychological Safety
Team Essentials: Creating the Framework for a High Performing Team
Complete ONE (1) of the following courses
Discovering Different Work Styles with DISC
Exemplary Leadership Practices with 360 Feedback Assessment
Personality Traits: Understanding Yourself and Others
Adapting Your Communication Style to Improve Collaboration
Leading with Emotional Intelligence
Diversity (OIED Course
Complete ONE (1) Diversity training course offered by the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity found on the OIED education and engagement webpage.
Example Courses: Unconscious Bias, Microaggressions, Fundamentals of Equal Opportunity, and Cultural Intelligence (CQ)
Self-Paced eLearning
Participants will take six (6) hours of supplemental eLearning. Learners choice! LinkedIn Learning
LEAD Electives
Complete THREE (3) LEAD Electives from the list of eligible courses found on the LEAD Course CatalogLEAD Course Catalog.
