This course is designed for supervisors, managers, and Human Resources representatives who are responsible for writing job descriptions. It provides an overview of the important elements of a job description, tips for writing accurate and thorough descriptions, an overview of the Career Banding classification system, and insight into professional job analysis and compensation administration for positions which are Subject to the Human Resources Act (SHRA) of North Carolina.

Objectives:

  • Explain the importance of job description information and the purposes for which the descriptions are used.
  • Share best practices for writing accurate and thorough job descriptions.
  • Provide an overview of the North Carolina Office of Human Resources’ (OSHR) Career Banding & Compensation System for SHRA employees.
  • Offer insight into the associated policies, processes, and procedures for classifying and compensating employees.
